Regional Partners Elevate Access to Capital for Technology Startups
Regional organizations partnering with the Truist Foundation launched initiatives to enhance startup funding access across Appalachia. The effort included microgrant distribution, educational resources, and mentorship connections for technology and biotechnology companies.
Microgrant Program
Project partners distributed $50,000 in microgrants targeting state and federal grant writing assistance. The initiative generated significant regional interest, with seventeen technology and biotechnology companies applying for over $8 million in funding.

Verge, the Roanoke-Blacksburg technology alliance, created nine core video lessons covering financing topics from federal grants to equity investment. The free curriculum features successful business leaders and venture financing experts.
